Mason County's 2nd round games have been interesting
If Mason County's recent football playoff history is any indication, expect a close game tomorrow night when the Royals host the Sheldon Clark Cardinals in the second round of the Class 3A football playoffs.
In 2001, after beating Garrard County by 23 points in the first round, the Royals edged Lloyd 40-35 in round two.
Mason County opened the 2002 playoffs with a 47-0 victory over Mercer County. The Royals ended up beating Lloyd 49-21 in the second round after leading by just two touchdowns midway through the third quarter.
In 2003, after routing Madison Central 55-22 in the first round, the Royals eked out a 21-19 win over Rockcastle County in the second round. Mason County went on to beat Ashland by 23 points in the third round.
Last season, the Royals beat West Carter 57-6 in the opening round before falling to Russell 26-21 in the second round.
Of course, it doesn't matter what the margin is, the goal is to win and advance.
