Trinity freshman QB Zane Johnson is the son of former Royal Jordan Johnson

 Zane Johnson, the freshman starting quarterback for the varsity football team at Class 6A powerhouse Trinity High School in Louisville, is the son of former Mason County Royal Jordan Johnson.

In his first start, which was the Shamrocks' third game of the season, Zane completed 18 of 33 passes for 163 yards and a touchdown in a 34-7 loss to Center Grove (Indiana).

He completed 15 of 18 passes for 208 yards and three touchdowns with an interception in a 41-14 win over Carmel, Indiana, and completed 14 of 33 passes for 152 yards and one touchdown with two interceptions in a 37-20 loss to Male.

For the season, Zane has passed for 637 yards and seven touchdowns with four interceptions.

Trinity, a 27-time state champion, plays 13-time state champion St. Xavier Friday night at L&N Federal Credit Union Stadium, the home of the Louisville Cardinals.

Jordan Johnson is a 2000 graduate of Mason County High School. He was the head coach at Waggener High School in Louisville from 2015 to 2018.
