The Mason County Royals defeated the Powell County Pirates 7-3 in Stanton Tuesday.
The Royals led 7-0 before the Pirates made it interesting by scoring three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. It looked like Powell County was going to score another run, but center fielder Eli Porter threw out a runner at home plate.
Westin Messer pitched six and two-thirds innings giving up the three runs on six hits while striking out four and walking two in raising his record to 3-0.
Mason County (15-5) will host the Montgomery County Indians today at 6 p.m.
