Lady Saints' season ends with a loss to Bishop Brossart


The St. Patrick Lady Saints' season came to an end with a 63-42 loss to the Bishop Brossart Lady 'Stangs in the opening game of the 10th Region Tournament at The Fieldhouse on Monday night.

St. Patrick (16-16) led 18-13 in the second quarter, but Bishop Brossart 22-11) ended the first half with a 15-5 run to lead 28-23.

The Lady Saints scored the first seven points of the third quarter to regain the lead at 30-28. That was the first of four straight lead changes.

The Lady 'Stangs took the lead for good at 33-32, then ended the third quarter on an 8-2 run and opened the fourth quarter with a 16-3 run to lead 57-37 with 2:52 to play.

Izzy Riggs led St. Patrick with 16 points and was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Bishop Brossart advances to Friday night's semifinals to play the Montgomery County Lady Indians. Montgomery County (21-12) defeated the Pendleton County Lady Wildcats 60-53.

The game was tied at 50-all, then the Lady Indians scored eight straight points.

Pendleton County ends the season with a 21-8 record.

Two more quarterfinal round games will be played on Tuesday night: George Rogers Clark vs. Nicholas County at 6 p.m. and Bracken County vs. Scott at 7:45
