Mason County girls' and boys' track and field teams sweep Class AA Indoor State Championships

The Mason County girls' and boys' indoor track and field teams swept the Class AA Indoor State Championships at the Norton Health Care Sports and Learning Center in Louisville. 

After five straight state runner-up finishes, the Lady Royals racked up 92.5 points today in winning their first state championship. Perennial powerhouse Rockcastle County was the runner-up with 82 points.

The Royals won their third state championship and their first since 2015. The Royals totaled 64 points. Calloway County was the runner-up with 55 points.

Mason County junior Alix Flinders is the state champion in the boys' 400 meter dash with a time of 52.58. Mason County senior Asher Braughton had a runner-up finish with a time of 54.28.

Flinders and Braughton teamed up with sophomore Austin Moreland and senior Colton Riggs win the state championship in 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:41.85.
