Maysvillle vs. Fleming County girls district game in 1975 played without fans

Several college basketball games will be played in empty arenas as the country tries to halt the spread of Coronavirus.

This comes 45 years after a girls' game in the 39th District Tournament was played without fans in the Mason County Fieldhouse.

There was a brawl after the Maysville vs. Fleming County boys' game in the 1975 tournament.

In wake of the brawl, the game between the Maysville Lady Bulldogs and the Fleming County Lady Panthers scheduled the next night was postponed until the following afternoon and no fans were allowed to attend.

School was in session, but I remember The Fieldhouse being off limits to students. The game was aired on WFTM, and I think at least one of my teachers allowed us to listen to the broadcast.

Fleming County upset Maysville 32-29. Under the old three-team format, there was no championship game in the girls' tournament.
Mason County was the champion because the Lady Royals had defeated the Lady Panthers 43-20 in the opening game of the tournament. Fleming County was the runner-up.

Fans were allowed to attend the boys' championship game. The Mason County Royals beat the Fleming County Panthers 58-51.
