Local sports notes

Here are a few local sports notes for your Friday reading pleasure:

• Mason County indoor track and field meet #1 takes places on Saturday at the Carmeuse/Mason County Schools Indoor Athletic Complex. Nearly 30 teams and some 600 athletes are scheduled to compete. Three teams had to drop out due to illness. This is the first of five indoor meets at Mason County on consecutive Saturdays including the KTCCA Indoor State Championships on March 7.

• The West Carter at Mason County boys' basketball game scheduled on Saturday is cancelled due to illness at West Carter. The game will not be rescheduled.

• Registration for T-Ball, Cal Ripken Baseball and Babe Ruth Fast-Pitch Softball at Wald Park is underway online only at www.waldparkbaseball.com 

• The draws for the 2020 Mingua Beef Jerky/KHSAA Girls' Sweet 16 and the 2020 Whitaker Bank/KHSAA Boys' Sweet 16 basketball tournaments will be held on Tuesday, February 11th at 1 p.m. The draws will be televised on CW Lexington and streamed live online at KHSAA.tv and WKYT,com
