Lady Royals make state XC podium for 2nd straight year

The Mason County Lady Royals cross country team made it to the podium at the KHSAA Class AA state championships for the second straight year.

After a third place finish last year, the Lady Royals finished fourth today at Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington.

The Scott Lady Eagles won the state championship with 74 points.
Christian Academy of Louisville was the runner-up with 97 points. Highlands took third place with 125 points followed by Mason County with 148 points.

The Lady Royals were led by freshman Paige Decker with a 14th place finish in a time of 20:18.52. Sophomore Alyssa Bisotti finished in 20th place with a time of 20:33.41.

The Mason County Royals finished in 20th place in the Class AA boys' state championships. The Royals were led by senior Isaiah Riggs in 43rd place (17:50.13).

Two St. Patrick athletes ran in the Class A state championships- senior Marvin Koch finished in 134th place in the boys' race (19:40.13) and freshman Hadley Mellenkamp took 148th place in the girls' race (24:58.80).
