Lady Royals win 2nd straight region championship, Royals also qualify for state

The Mason County Lady Royals won the Class AA Region 6 cross country championship for the second straight year, and the Royals also qualified for state with a fourth place finish at Powell County Saturday.

The Lady Royals were led by freshman Paige Decker with a fifth place finish (20:14.21). Sophomore Alyssa Bisotti took sixth place (20:19.21), freshman Elizabeth Lavinder finished seventh (20:30.70) and freshman Morgan Carpenter took 10th place (21:01.73).

The Royals were led by a couple of seniors: Isaiah Riggs in fourth place (17:36.56) and Nicholas Drury in 10th place (18:12.77). 

The state championships will be held this Saturday at Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington. The girls Class AA meet starts at 11:30 a.m. The boys Class AA meet is scheduled at 12:15 p.m. Tickets are $10. Children 10 under will be admitted free.
