The high school basketball season begins Monday night. The St. Patrick Saints, under first-year coach Andy Arn, travel to Carlisle to play the Nicholas County Bluejackets. The Mason County Lady Royals play the Bracken County Lady Bears in Brooksville. Stephen Butcher begins his second season as the coach of the Lady Royals.
The St. Patrick Lady Saints and the Mason County Royals still have more time to prepare for their season openers. The Lady Saints open the season Friday night at Bourbon County. The Royals' season opener is Dec. 7 at Holy Cross.
