The Mason County Royals travel to Cynthiana tonight to play the Class 4A Harrison County Thorobreds. Mason County (4-0) is coming off a 28-26 win over the Rowan County Vikings. Harrison County (2-2) lost to Montgomery County 27-26 in the Recreation Bowl, posted back-to-back wins over Paris (35-14) and Newport (20-14) and lost to Scott 36-30 last week after jumping out to an 18-0 lead. The Thorobreds are led by a couple of seniors- wide receiver/defensive back Malcolm Thomas and running back Josh Moss. Mason County Coach David Buchanan says Harrison County has "some really nice skilled talent that can score from anywhere on the field." Mark Carroll is in his first season as the head coach at Harrison County. Kickoff is at 7:30. Here are some game notes:
- Mason County sophomore Josh Harris won the Royals' Big Hit Award for the tackle he made on the opening kickoff last week;
- Harrison County has a new athletic complex. Parking near the new field is limited. A shuttle service will be provided from the Harrison County High School student parking lot beginning at 6:45 p.m. Check out Monday's blog entry for the details;
- Harrison County leads the series 10-0.
