The Mason County Royals rallied from a 6-0 deficit only to lose to the Nicholas County Bluejackets 12-8 in eight innings in the opening game of the 10th Region tournament at Harrison County. Nicholas County scored six runs in the top of the first innning. Mason County started chipping away in the bottom of the inning when Richie Cox hit a two-run home run. The Royals scored two runs in the third and three in the fourth to take a 7-6 lead. Cox scored the go ahead run when a balk was called as he attempted to steal home. Nicholas County tied the game in the sixth inning and scored five runs in the eighth inning on two home runs. Mason County scored a run in the bottom of the eighth. Nicholas County starter Jordan Mynear went the distance, throwing 177 pitches. He struck out 10. Cox had four RBI and scored three runs for the Royals who end the season with a 13-19 record.
