White Team Wins Spring Game 24-8

The White team defeated the Blue team 24-8 today in Mason County's annual spring football game. Neal Pawsat was the quarterback for both teams. He ran for one touchdown and threw for another for the White team and threw a TD pass for the Blue team. The game wraps up two wet weeks of spring practice.
Mason County Coach David Buchanan says he's really pleased with spring practice and he thinks the talent is there to have a pretty good team.
"I think we've got some speed and quickness," Buchanan said. " We're lacking some size and we're lacking experience. We knew going in that was going to be an issue. We're sorta taking some steps that we think will help us in that department."
Buchanan said he saw a lot of good things in the spring game.
"I liked how they competed," Buchanan said. "I liked how we were able to play pitch and catch in the mud with a wet football, I thought we did a pretty good job of that."
Buchanan says the Royals are going to have to grow up in a hurry.
"With the scrimmages we've got and the schedule we've got, that's going to force us to grow up."

  1. Quite amazing 2 weeks after State Tournament "Herbie" QB's for both teams as a freshman in the scrimmage. A strong indicator at how good he may be someday.
