Darius Miller scored 31 points to lead the top-ranked Mason County Royals to a season-opening
84-71 win over the fifth ranked Bryan Station Defenders last night in the Mr. Basketball Showcase at Tates Creek. After trailing 33-25 in the second quarter, the Royals ended the half on a 15-1 run to lead 40-34. Bryan Station tied the game at 49, but Mason County responded with an 11-2 run. Russ Middleton scored 23 points. Trevor Setty had 18 points. Ethan King scored seven points. Jackson Tolle and Phil Barner had two points apiece, and Keith Downing scored a point. Shelvin Mack scored 29 points and grabbed 17 rebounds for Bryan Station.
Mason County plays Tates Creek tonight at 8:30 on night two of the showcase.
June Buchanan plays Bermar, Georgia at 5:30, followed by Henry Clay vs. Brentwood Academy.
