Lady Bears Beat Lady Royals Get Top Seed in District

The Bracken County Lady Bears defeated the Mason County Lady Royals 11-1 in fast-pitch softball last night in Brooksville. The win gives Bracken County the number one seed in the district tournament and a berth in the regional tournament. Mason County beat Bracken County 9-2 on March 27. With the teams 1-1 against each other, KHSAA rules say the winner of the second game gets the top seed in the district. Since the 39th District only has three teams,
Bracken County receives a bye. Number two seed Mason County will play number three seed St. Patrick at 5 p.m. May 21 at the Maysville-Mason County Recreation Park. The winner of that game will play Bracken County in the championship game at 6:30 p.m. May 21.
Both the district champion and runner-up advance to the 10th Region Tournament.
