The Mason County Royals football team practiced in The Fieldhouse Thursday. In his daily e-mail update, coach David Buchanan said the team moved inside to save wear, tear, and mud on equipment and practice field. Plus, the focus was on inside run offense and defense. Buchanan says they can do that easily in the gym and the video is much better from the top of the gym.
"Execution was fair (Thursday), but we were not physical at all," Buchanan said in the e-mail message. "... Our young wide receivers took another big step (Thursday). Our route running, blocking, and catching improve substantially each day. Coach Faulkner and (coach) Ullery do a great job with those guys. When we are doing inside drills, those guys catch alot of balls."
The Royals are taking today off in both the weight room and from the practice field to watch Chris Lofton and his Tennessee teammates play Long Beach State in the NCAA Tournament.
