The Mason County Royals' 10 game season opening winning streak was snapped tonight with a 64-59 loss to the Lexington Catholic Knights in the semifinals of the Fifth Third Bank Classic at Lexington Catholic. After trailing 51-40 at the end of the third quarter, Mason County rallied to tie the game at 59-59, but Lexington Catholic scored the final five points of the game. Lexington Catholic center Nathan Novesel led all scorers with 28 points. Darius Miller led Mason County with 26 points. The Royals and Knights will meet again January 19 at The Fieldhouse.
Mason County's next game is Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. against Bracken County in the opening game of the Pepsi Mason County Invitational Tournament.
