Lofton Scores 1,000th Career Point

Chris Lofton scored eight points including the 1,000th of his career in Tennessee's 56-44 loss to Butler last night in the semi-finals of the NIT Season Tip-Off at Madison Square Garden. Lofton fouled out of the game. The Vols made just three of 29 shots in the second half. Tennessee plays North Carolina in the consolation game tomorrow at 4:30 p.m. on ESPN. Despite the low scoring game, it's been a big week for Lofton. He was named the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week after scoring 30 points against Fordham, and he is one of 50 pre-season candidates for the Naismith Trophy presented by Cingular Wireless.
