Mason County senior Chris Morris shot an even par 72 Tuesday at Laurel Oaks Golf Club to claim medalist honors in the boys 9th Region golf tournament and qualified for the state tournament. Mason County lost to Bishop Brossart in a playoff and failed to qualify for the state tournament. Highlands won the team title with a 325.
Mason County and Bishop Brossart finished regulation tied at 337. Brossart beat Mason County by two shots on the first hole of a sudden death playoff. Only the top two teams and the top three individuals not on the winning teams advance to the state tournament. Jeremy Martin and Zach Vickers, both of Grant County, join Morris as individual qualifiers. Martin was the runnerup with a 76 and Vickers had an 80. The state tournament will be played Oct. 5-7 at the Bowling Green Country Club. Here are the team scores in the regional tournament:
