Saints will Host Royals for first time since 1961

For the first time since 1961, the St. Patrick Saints will host the Mason County Royals at the St. Patrick Gym next season. The game is scheduled on December 1st.

The first-ever game between the two schools was played at the St. Patrick Gym on January 6, 1961. The Royals won, 64-59. The Public Ledger reported a crowd of more than 650 fans.

The next five seasons, St. Patrick's "home" games against Mason County were played at the Maysville Gym.

Mason County hosted St. Patrick at the Washington Gym for four regular season games in the 1960s.

Ever since the Mason County Fieldhouse opened in 1965 all of the regular season games between Mason County and St. Patrick have been played at the Fieldhouse.

The two schools have met 10 times on a neutral court in the 39th District Tournament- in 1961, 1962 and 1964 at Maysville, in 1995, 1998, 2000 and 2002 at Fleming County and in 2008, 2010 and 2012 at Bracken County.

Sixty-four of the 84 games between the two schools have been played at the Fieldhouse.

(Edited to correct the score of the first game and that five regular season games were played at Maysville,)
