Here are some cross country notes from Mason County coach Mark Kachler following the state meet:
- 7th grader Valerie Rice set a school record with her time of 21:04, and her 24th place finish is the highest for a Mason County girl.
- Five of the seven Mason County girls ran personal best times. Only Rachel White and Iretta Carpenter were about 10 seconds slower than their best times.
- Senior Travis Scaggs' 38th place finish is the second best boys' finish in school history.
- Freshman Jim Myers ran a personal best time in his first state meet.
