Mason County's Adams and Overly qualify for state XC meet as individuals

Mason County senior Carson Adams and eighth grader Deshawn Overly qualified for the Class AA state cross country meet as individuals.

Adams finished 12th (18:07.74) and Overly 24th (19:18.15) in the Region 6 meet on Saturday.

The state meet is Friday afternoon at the Bourbon County Cross Country Course.

A three-peat for the Mason County Lady Royals

 The Mason County Lady Royals are the Class AA Region 6 cross country champions for the third straight year.

The Lady Royals, running on their home course this morning, had a team score of 34 points. The Boyd County Lady Lions finished second with 44 points.

Boyd County junior Sophia Newsome was the individual region champion with a time of (19:26.85). Mason County sophomore Paige Decker was second (19:36.68) and Mason County sophomore Layla Henderson was third (19:54.38). Two other Lady Royals finished in the top 10: junior Alyssa Bisotti was seventh (20:27.79) and sophomore Elizabeth Lavinder was eighth (20:29.69). 

Boyd County won the boys' region title. Boyd County junior JB Terrill won the individual championship with a time of 16:23.97. The Mason County Royals finished in fifth place and were led by senior Carson Adams with a 12th place finish (18:07.74).

The Class AA state meet will be held Friday afternoon at the Bourbon County Cross Country Course.

Mason County Lady Royals XC team with two sub-19s in same race for first time in school history

 For the first time in school history, two Mason County girls had sub-19 minute runs to lead the Lady Royals cross country team to a fourth place in the Bourbon County Colonel Charge on Saturday.

Layla Henderson finished in eighth place with a time of 18:47.4 and Paige Decker took ninth place with a time of 18:48.3.

Mason County coach Mark Kachler said the program has never had two girls run sub-19s on the same team much less on the same day.

Five of the preseason top 5 girls AA teams competed yesterday and finished in this order: 

Christian Academy (Louisville), third 

Mason County,  fourth 

Bourbon County, fifth 

Highlands, sixth

Scott, seventh.

Mason County senior Carson Adams finished fifth with a time of 11:20.27 to lead the Royals to a third place finish at the Rowan County Invitational.

Joe Donovan Memorial River Run in downtown Maysville this morning.

Kristen Carlson was the female winner.

Lady Royals, Royals, Faris and Linville winners at Ripley XC Invitational

The Mason County girls and boys cross country teams swept the team titles and Mason County freshman Hayden Faris and Mason County sophomore Connor Linville won the individual races Saturday at the Ripley Invitational.

The Lady Royals won by 21 points over Georgetown, and the Royals bested Felicity by 18 points.

Faris won the girls' race in a time of 21:52.00. 

Mason County junior Olivia O'Hearn took ninth place (23:46.00)

Connor Linville was the boys' winner with of a time of 17:33.00. 

Another Mason County sophomore- Isaiah Riggs- finished second (17:54.00)

Mason County freshman Carson Adams had a ninth place finish (18:40.00).
