Royals finish fourth in Pikeville Invitational Tournament

The Mason County Royals shot a 313 and finished in fourth place in the Pikeville Invitational Tournament on Saturday at Stonecrest Golf Course.

Mason County was led by Jaxen Crabtree and Noah Gardner who each shot a 77. They were followed by Cole Owens (79), Lennox Hughes (80) and Slate Brammer (85). 

The Royals will play in the Bronco Invitational hosted by Frederick Douglass on Monday at Kearney Hill Golf Links in Lexington.

Royals will scrimmage Scott in Taylor Mill

The Mason County Royals football team will travel to Taylor Mill today to scrimmage the Scott Eagles at 6 p.m.

The Royals will host the Conner Cougars for a scrimmage on August 15.

"Two Northern Kentucky teams, two schools that I think are going to give us a good challenge going into the regular season," Mason County coach Bradley Boone said.

Mason  County will open the regular season on August 22 at Bracken County. The Royals' will play their home opener on August 29 vs. the Montgomery County Indians.

Gardner wins individual title in dramatic fashion, leads Royals to 4th-place finish in the Mason County Open

Mason County senior Noah Gardner earned his first high school win by sinking a 30-foot birdie putt in a playoff in the Mason County Open on Wednesday at Laurel Oaks Golf Course.

Gardner shot a 5-under 67 to lead the Royals to a fourth-place finish.

Mason County had a team score of 297.

Jaxen Crabtree shot a 74, Cole Owens tallied a 75 and Lennox Hughes carded an 81 to round out the team score. Slate Brammer shot an 85.

The Royals will travel to StoneCrest Golf Course in Prestonsburg on Saturday for the Pikeville Invitational.

Mikah Turner leads Eastside to Maysville Classic championship; King and Moore inducted into HOF

Eastside, led by former Mason County Royal Mikah Turner, won the Maysville Classic on Sunday at the Lady Royals Gym. 

Turner won the Ron Bailey Most Valuable Player Award.

In the championship game, Turner scored 21 points and hit five 3-pointers in the first half and finished with 34 points.

Paul King and Pat Moore were posthumously inducted into the Maysville Classic Hall of Fame on Sunday afternoon. King and Moore are the Hall of Fame's first two inductees.

Royals win Ashland Invitational, Crabtree shoots 68 for his first win

The Mason County Royals won the Ashland Invitational at Bellefonte Country Club on Monday with a score of 297.

Jaxen Crabtree fired a 2-under 68 to pick up his first high school victory.

Noah Gardner shot a 73 followed by Cole Owens (77), Slate Brammer (79) and Lennox Hughes (86).

The Royals will host the Mason County Open on Wednesday at Laurel Oaks Golf Course.

Melissa Hughes and Sarah Fite win Ladies 2-Day Scramble at KSGC

Melissa Hughes and Sarah Fite teamed up to win the Ladies 2-Day Scramble at Kenton Station Golf Course on Sunday.

Hughes and Fite began the final round with a four-shot lead after shooting a 63 in the first round on Saturday and won by four shots with a 36-hole total of 15-under 129.

Kelly Conner and Libby Moses finished second at 11-under. Tonie Soule and Sharlene Hall finished third at 8-under.

Logan Liles wins 33rd Laurel Oaks Classic

Logan Liles won the 33rd Laurel Oaks Classic on Sunday with a 36-hole total of 12-under 132.

Defending champion Corey Richmond finished second at 10 under.

Liles shot a 66 in each round. Richmond matched Liles' 66 in the first round and shot a 68 on Sunday.

Marcus Maloan finished third at 9 under. Dusty Kilgore and Logan Shepherd tied for fourth place at 6 under.

Lady Royals win 2A Section Championship, Ullery is medalist

The Mason County Lady Royals won the Kentucky 2A Championships Section 6 Championship on Friday at Eagle Trace Golf Course in Morehead.

Sydney Ullery was the Section 6 medalist with an 83.

The Lady Royals will play in the Kentucky 2A Championships state tournament in Owensboro.

A busy weekend in local sports

It's a big sports weekend in Maysville and the weather looks great.

It's Alumni Night tonight for Mason County football. There will be food at 6 p.m., the 7-on-7 alumni game at 7:30 followed by the Royals' practice.

The Maysville Classic, a 5-on-5 basketball tournament formerly the Dirt Bowl, will be played at the Lady Royals Gym on Saturday.

The Ladies 2-Day Scramble at Kenton Station Golf Course is Saturday and Sunday. Emilee Bertram and Jodi Bertram are the defending champions. Saturday's tee times are posted on the golf course's Facebook page.

The 33rd Laurel Oaks Classic, a 36-hole stroke play tournament, is Saturday and Sunday at Laurel Oaks Golf Course. Corey Richmond is the defending champion. The shootout is tonight at 6:30. Check out the Saturday tee times in the X post below.
