Chris Lofton to play for the Ballinteers

Chris Lofton will play for the Ballinteers in The Basketball Tournament, a $1 million winner-take-all, single elimination tourney.

The Ballinteers, a University of Tennessee alumni team, announced on Twitter, that Lofton is the first member of the team's roster. 

Lofton had planned on playing for the Ballinteers last year, but the team dropped out of the tournament because COVID-19 provisions for the event presented too many obstacles for the players.

Lofton then joined Team KBC Crossover, but the team was not one of the 24 teams selected to play in the tournament. The pandemic forced the tournament field to be reduced from 64 to 24 teams in 2020.

Lofton played for KBC in the 2019 tournament. He scored 18 points in a opening round victory in the Lexington Regional and made eight 3-pointers and scored 32 points in a semifinal loss.

The Basketball Tournament will have a 64-team field with five regions this summer. 

The Basketball Tournament uses the Elam Ending in which every game ends with a game-winning shot.
