Mason County wins district championships in baseball and softball

The Mason County Royals baseball team and the Mason County Lady Royals softball team both won their fifth straight 39th District championships today.

In the baseball tournament, the Royals defeated the Bracken County Polar Bears 9-2 in the championship game. Bracken County was an 8-1 winner over the Augusta Panthers in the semifinal game earlier today. Mason County had a bye in the semifinal round after clinching the No. 1 seed in the three-team district.

In the softball tournament, the Lady Royals shutout the St. Patrick Lady Saints 8-0 in the championship game. Earlier today in the semifinals, Mason County avenged two regular season losses to the Bracken County Lady Bears with a victory 6-3, and St. Patrick routed the Augusta Lady Panthers 15-0 in three innings.
