Royals beat Polar Bears for sixth straight district title

The Mason County Royals beat the Bracken County Polar Bears 13-2 in six innings for their sixth straight district title. Ryne King scattered five hits and struck out seven. Cory Woods hit a two-run home run for the second straight day. Mason County almost closed out the game in the fifth inning. Bracken County trailed 11-1 and was down to its final out when Andrew Cummins hit a home run to extend the game to the sixth inning. The Royals scored twice in the top of the sixth, and King retired the Polar Bears in order in the bottom of the inning to give Mason County its 10th win of the season. King also had a good game at the plate. He drove in the Royals' first run with a triple in the first inning, and singled and scored in the fourth inning. Keegan McGee was 3-for-3 with an RBI. Both teams advance to the 10th Region Tournament next week at Scott.
