Playing without quarterback Richie Cox, the Mason County Royals lost to the Ashland Tomcats 17-0 in the first round of the Class AAA football last night in Ashland.
The Royals did not have a first down in the first half and had just 35 yards of offense in the game. Mason County had one opportunity to score in the third quarter. The Royals recovered an Ashland fumble and drove to three yard line, but fumbled on fourth and goal. Mason County ends the season with a record of 7-4. Ashland, now 9-2, moves onto the second round to play Johnson Central. Here's the scoring summary:
