Mikah Turner scored 35 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Berea to an 85-80 overtime win over Transylvania Monday night. Turner was 13-of-23 from the field including 5-of-11 on three-pointers. He was 4-of-4 from the free throw line in the overtime period. Turner had two blocks and one assist. He played 43 minutes. Turner is averaging 20 points a game.

Buchanan KFCA District Coach of the Year
Mason County Coach David Buchanan has been named the Class 3A District 7 Coach of the Year by the Kentucky Football Coaches Association for the second straight year. It's the fifth time Buchanan has received a District Coach of the Year Award from the KFCA. This past season, Buchanan guided Mason County to a 9-3 record. The Royals won the district title with a 4-0 mark including their first win over Russell in Flatwoods. Drew Abrams of Russell was named the Class 3A District 7 Player of the Year.

44-29 tonight at The Fieldhouse. The Royals led by as many as 10 points in the second quarter before the Indians cut the lead to five at the half. Holy Cross scored just nine points in the second half. The final margin was the largest of the night. Russ Middleton was the only Mason County player in double figures with 12 points. Villa Madonna outscored Mason County 6-2 to the rest of the way. The Lady Royals had a chance to tie the game but missed a long three-pointer in the closing seconds. Amy Kruetzer led the Blue Lightning with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Kim Schroer scored 16 points. Villa Madonna did not attempt a three-point shot in the game. Defense leads Royals to 59-39 win over Cov. Cath.
59-39 tonight in Park Hills. Mason County led 29-12 at the half and was up by as many as 26 points in the third quarter. Three Royals scored career-highs - Phil Barner with 13, Neal Pawsat 12 and Keith Downing with 11. Russ Middleton added 10 points and moved pass Dustin Grutza into 12th place on the Royals' career scoring list. Luke Maile and Alex Ives were the only two Covington Catholic players to score in the first half. Maile ended up with 14 points and Ives had 12. Stephen Mason scores 35 points to lead Saints' to first win

The Mason County Royals will play Cincinnati St. Xavier Dec. 13 in the Bluegrass-Buckeye Charity Holiday Classic at the Bank of Kentucky Arena on the campus of Northern Kentucky University. Proceeds from the two-day event will be donated to four charities- Neediest Kids of All, Ruth Lyons Children’s Fund, Queen City Foundation and St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Basketball legend Oscar Robertson is the Honorary Chairperson of the event. He will sign copies of his new book both days of the classic. Advance tickets priced at $10 for adults and $6 for students are available at all of the participating high schools. A $15 weekend pass will cover admission both days. All tickets at the door will be $12. Here is the schedule of games:

Miller scores six points in Wildcats' rout of Lamar
Saints lose season opener at St. Henry
The Saints shot 35.6% from the field and were outrebounded 42-27. Stephen Mason led St. Patrick in scoring with 14 points. Andy Clarke added 13 points. The Saints play at Bracken County Thursday night.
