Lady Royals runners-up in track and field region

The Mason County Lady Royals finished second in the Class 2A Region 6 track and field meet today at Mason County.

The Ashland Kittens won the region for the fourth straight year with 184 points. The Lady Royals had 131 points.

The Boyd County Lions won the boys' region championship with 140 points. The Ashland Tomcats took second place with 119.5 points. The Mason County Royals finished in fifth place with 43.5 points.

Mason County region champions include senior Marissa Scilley who won the triple jump for the third straight year (34-03), Dalton Kindt in the shot put (49-10), Te'A King in the 100 meter dash (13-06), Abigail Dawson in the pole vault (8-06), the girls' 4x800 meter relay team of Paige Decker, Hayden Faris, Alyssa Bisotti, and Hadley Faris, and Dalton Kindt and Kaylee Campbell in the mixed shot put unified (45-04).

The girls' 4x400 meter relay team of Abigail Dawson, Olivia O'Hearn, Hadley Faris and Rachel Payne set a school record with a time of 4:18.52.

Other second place finishers who qualified for the state meet include:
  • Isaiah Riggs in the 3200 meter run (10:53.85)
  • Paige Decker in the long jump
  • Dalton Kindt in the discus  (127-09)
  • Carson Adams in the 800 meter run (2:09.54)
  • Rachel Payne in the 300 meter hurdles (49.25)
  • 4x100 meter relay team of Marissa Scilley, Eboni Chambers, Kendra Shoemaker and Te'A King (53.51)
  • Olivia O'Hearn in the pole vault (8-00)
Fleming County senior Robert Applegate won the 1600 meter run in a time of 4:47.76.
