Lady Royals and Beechwood tie for first place in Royal Rumble

The Mason County Lady Royals and the Beechwood Lady Tigers tied for first place in the Royal Rumble Invitational track and field meet Saturday.

"I guess after 18 years you would have seen everything but I don't ever a recall ending a track meet in a tie for first place," Mason County coach Mark Kachler wrote in an email.

Mason County and Beechwood both finished with 133 points. Simon Kenton took third place with 83 points. Fleming County, Bracken County and Lewis County finished 10th, 11th and 12th respectively.

Simon Kenton won the boys meet. Bracken County took third place, Fleming County fifth, Mason County seventh, Lewis County 11th and Augusta 14th.

First place finishes by Mason County athletes include:
  • Te'a King in the 100 meter dash (12.985)
  • Marissa Scilley in the triple jump (32-09.50)
  • Dalton Kindt in the discus (125-00) and the shot put (45-09.00)
  • The girls 4x100 meter relay team of Iyanna Johns, Te'a King, Kendra Shoemaker and Marissa Scilley (53.89)
  • The girls 4x200 meter relay team of Rachel Payne, Te'a King, Iyanna Johns and Olivia O'Hearn (1:55.94)
  • Kaylee Campbell and Alyssa Cracraft in the 2x50 meter relay unified (28.07)
