Saints suffer stunning loss in OT

The St. Patrick Saints rallied from a 13-point fourth quarter deficit to take the lead and appeared to have won the game when the buzzer sounded, but instead suffered a stunning 65-62 loss to the Bracken County Polar Bears in overtime tonight in the lower bracket semifinal game of the 39th District Tournament at The Fieldhouse.

With St. Patrick leading 57-55 in the closing seconds, Bracken County was unable to get off a shot.

The Polar Bears lost the ball out of bounds at the baseline and the fourth quarter buzzer sounded.

The officials decided to put two-tenths of a second back on the clock, and Bracken County junior Tad Fisher scored on a tip in shot on an underneath inbounds play at the buzzer to send the game to overtime.

St. Patrick led 60-57 and 62-61 in the extra period, but Bracken County answered with four straight points.

The Saints missed a desperation three-pointer as time expired.

Mason Tucker had a game-high 18 points for Bracken County.

Trey Deaton tossed in 15 points and Tad Fisher added 10 points.

St. Patrick was led in scoring by Brevin Jones with 18 points.

Isaiah Garrison followed with 16 points and Baylen Bauer and Ben Swolsky scored 12 points apiece.
