Lady Royals rout Lady Bears for District title

The Mason County Lady Royals scored 19 straight points in the first quarter and routed the Bracken County Lady Bears 71-21 in the championship game of the 39th District Tournament tonight at The Fieldhouse.

It's the Lady Royals' fourth consecutive district title.

Mason County led 25-4 at the end of the first quarter, 43-14 at the half and 60-18 at the end of the third quarter.

The Lady Royals shot 52.7 percent from field for the game and scored 32 points off the Lady Bears' 28 turnovers.

Bracken County only had five field goals in the game.

Emma Taylor led Mason County in scoring with 16 points.

Victoria Brooks followed with 14 points and Kara Moran added 11 points.

Kennedy Carl was Bracken County's leading scorer with 11 points.

Both teams advance to the 10th Region Tournament next week at The Fieldhouse.
