Lady Royals 2nd in Region; Sizemore, Scilley & Kindt are champions

The Mason County Lady Royals finished second in the Class AA Region 6 track and field meet at Russell Saturday.

The Ashland Kittens completed a three-peat as region champions with 178 points. The Lady Royals had 148 points.

Boyd County won the boys' meet. The Mason County Royals took sixth place.

Three Mason County athletes are region champions-  Rheagan Sizemore in the girls' 800 meter run (2:27.25) and the girls' pole vault (8-06.00), Marissa Scilley in the girls' long jump (15-06.00) and the girls' triple jump (32-04.75), and Dalton Kindt in the boys' shot put (45-8.75).

Sizemore was the runner-up in the girls' 400 meter dash (1:03.88).

Kindt was the runner-up in the boys' discus (126-10).

Winners and runners-up in each event advance to the state meet. Other Mason County athletes with runner-up finishes include:

• Te'a King in the girls' 100 meter dash (13.22).
• Jordan Frodge in the girls' 300 meter hurdles (50.12) and the girls' high jump (4-10.00).
• Connor Linville in the boys' 3200 meter run (10:34.91).
• Abigail Dawson in the girls' pole vault (7-06.00).
• The girls' 4x100 meter relay team of Te'a King, Abbey Payne, Scilley and Leanna Holler (53.55).
•  The girls' 4x200 meter relay team of  Dawson, King, Holler and Payne (1:57.01).
• The girls' 4x400 meter relay team of Olivia O'Hearn, Hadley Faris, Sizemore and Frodge (4:22.47).

Mason County athletes outside the top two who qualified on performance include:

• Frodge in the girls' shot put (30-06.25).
• Iyanna Johns in the girls' long jump (14-11.75).
• Hadley Faris in the girls' 800 meter run (2:34.08).
• Hayden Faris in the girls' 1600 meter run (5:51.70).
• The girls' 4x800 meter relay team of Chloe Adams, Hayden Faris, Brianna McNutt and Hadley Faris (11:07.24).

Mason County sophomore Kaylee Campbell competed in three unified events- the shot put (with Kindt), the long jump (with Travis Whisman) and the 2x50 meter relay (with Whisman). Campbell and her partner athletes will compete at the state meet.
