Pendleton County outscores Mason County 111-91

The Pendleton County Wildcats scored 40 points in the first quarter and defeated the Mason County Royals 111-91 tonight at Pendleton County.

The Wildcats made 10 three-pointers in the first half and led by 20 in the second quarter.

The Royals closed to within six at 84-78 in the opening minute of the fourth quarter, but Pendleton County pulled away with a 20-5 run.

Pendleton County sophomore guard Dontaie Allen scored a game-high 44 points and grabbed 13 rebounds.

Leevi Dunaway scored a career-high 41 points for Mason County.

Mason County senior Ty Fox scored a career-high 21 points.

Jayden Steward added 10 points.

Mason Dennie and Grant Walsh both scored 25 points for Pendleton County.

The Wildcats shot 61.9 percent from the field in the first half and 51.9 percent for the game.

Pendleton County was 13 of 16 from three-point range.

Mason County shot 52.9 percent from the field and 26.7 percent on three-point shots.

Pendleton County scored 31 points off Mason County's 21 turnovers.

The 202 combined points are a record for Mason County and an opponent. The previous record was 196 (Mason County 124, Tollesboro 72 in 1992).

The 111 points scored by Pendleton County are the second highest allowed by a Mason County team, Scott County scored 112 vs. the Royals 1995.

It's the first time Mason County has allowed 100 or more points since Scott County scored 105 in 1998.

Mason County has lost four straight games and seven of their last eight.

The Royals host the Lewis County Lions Saturday night.
