Andy Fryman 5th in hammer throw U.S. Olympic Trials

Former Mason County and University of Kentucky standout Andy Fryman had a season-best mark of 72.73 meters/238-feet, seven inches and finished in fifth place in the hammer throw U.S. Olympic Trials today in Eugene, Oregon.

Fryman needed to be in the top three and have the Olympic Standard mark of 77 meters to qualify for Team USA in the Rio Olympics. He was less than five feet behind the third place finisher.

None of the top three have the Olympic Standard and will need an invite from the International Association of Athletics Federations.

(Updated to include none of the throwers have the Olympic Standard.)
