Mason County to Recognize 1976 and 1986 Lady Royals State SemifinalTeams

Mason County High School will recognize the 1976 and 1986 Lady Royals basketball teams that advanced to the semifinals of the state tournament.

The teams will be recognized at halftime of the Mason County vs. Bishop Brossart girls game at the Fieldhouse  on February 19.

The 1976 team was the first Mason County High School basketball team (girls or boys) to win a region championship. The 1986 team won the regional tournament after losing to St. Patrick in the championship game of the 39th District Tournament.

The Mason County Royals will host the Pendleton County Wildcats in the second game of the girls and boys doubleheader on February 19. Maysville High School and Fee High School players from the 1950s will be introduced at halftime of the boys game.

The other recognition nights include:
  • February 9- Mason County players and cheerleaders from the 1960s and 70s when the Royals host Manchester
  • Ferbuary 10- Maysville players and cheerleaders from the 1960s and 70s when the Royals play Montgomery County. That game was originally scheduled for February 2, but was moved back because Montgomery County needs to play a district seeding game on February 2.

(Edited to add the 50s to the Maysville and Fee recognition on February 19)
