Royals Play 'Breds in Cynthiana Friday Night

After three straight home games, the 0-6 Mason County Royals travel to Cynthiana Friday night to play the Harrison County Thorobreds in a district game.

An already thin Mason County team is even thinner this week as Andrew Thacker, Shane Sizemore and Chase Lykins suffered season-ending injuries in last week's loss to Bourbon County.

Harrison County has had several injuries this season. The Thorobreds, under first-year coach Neil Furnish, a Harrison County alum, are 2-5 overall and 1-1 in the district.

Harrison County quarterback Brock Jenkins has passed for 1,258 yards and 10 touchdowns. His favorite receiver is Jovon Williams who has 35 receptions for 594 yards and six touchdowns.

Jenkins is Harrison County's leading rusher with 83 carries for 403 yards and six touchdowns.

Mason County coach Jonathan Thomas says Harrison County has a really good team.

"We'll have our hands full," Thomas said. "And we'll do our best to try to execute our game plan and try to put together two halves of football."

Mason County is 0-2 in district games.

Notes:

- Mason County and Harrison County have played two common opponents- North laurel and Scott. Mason County lost to North Laurel 40-0 and lost to Scott 43-7. Harrison County lost to North Laurel 45-35 and lost to Scott 43-0.

- Harrison County leads the series 10-6, but Mason County has won the last six meetings including 49-7 last season.
