David Buchanan Leaving Mason Co. for Mercer Co.

After 19 seasons as the football coach at Mason County, David Buchanan announced this morning he is stepping down to become the head coach at Mercer County. Buchanan graduated from Mercer County High School in 1983. Buchanan had a 150-72 record at Mason County. Buchanan told the players about his decision this morning. "It was one of the toughest things I've done; I have loved being the coach here," Buchanan said. He guided the Royals to six district titles, two region championships and three 12-win seasons. Buchanan was named District Coach of the Year seven times by the Kentucky Football Coaches Association.
