Royals top Simon Kenton 67-52

The Mason County Royals started fast and finished strong in a 67-52 victory over the Simon Kenton Pioneers tonight at The Fieldhouse. The Royals jumped out to a 9-0 lead as the Pioneers missed their first nine shots. Mason County took a 20-point lead early in the fourth quarter. Simon Kenton got to within 12 with 5:03 to go, but the Royals responded with six straight points and snapped a two-game losing steak. Treg Setty had a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Tyler Black was 7-of-7 from the field and scored 17 points. Jordan Gilbert added 15 points. Mason County plays John Hardin Saturday at 5:30 p.m. in the 20th Annual Joe B. Hall Kentucky Preps Classic at Montgomery County.
